A Sunday Drive

A couple of weekends ago, we decided to take a "Sunday drive" on a Saturday. It's been fun just to drive around and see cities we've never been to, places that don't necessitate an overnight trip or much sightseeing but are still worth a quick trip through.

We started out by cruising through Santa Paula and Fillmore. Very small towns and not much to see, although both had some beautiful mountains. For those who watch The Biggest Loser this season, one of the child ambassadors is from Fillmore and we saw Fillmore Middle School where some of TBL has been filmed this season.

Not a great picture because the entire school was fenced off like a prison. We had a friendly debate on whether the prison fencing was new since TBL aired, to protect the kids from all of the paparazzi.

Next we headed to Santa Clarita, which is used for a lot of movie and tv show filming because it is within the "30 mile zone" of Hollywood. Anywhere greater than 30 miles away the stars are entitled to travel pay and accommodations. Seven shows are being filmed currently in Santa Clarita: Franklin & Bash, Justified, NCIS, Switched at Birth, The Wedding Band, Vegas, and Wipeout.

The kids only cared that Six Flags Magic Mountain is in Santa Clarita.

After that we started the rejection portion of the day. We drove to Toluca Lake to see Miley Cyrus' house. Well, we saw a gate anyway:

It was still interesting because we learned that she lives on a normal street with normal-ish looking houses with a neighbor who LOVES to decorate for Valentine's Day.

Next we headed to Calabasas to try and scope out Justin Bieber's house. Again we were met with a gate.

And this was just the first gate. We were double locked out of the Bieb's house.

We headed down the hill to Justin Bieber's McDonald's (the one closest to his house that we IMAGINE he goes to for all his sweet tea needs) so that we could rehydrate.

The rejection was getting to us so we headed back to The Biggest Loser ranch next. Dave and I had been there but never with the girls. We knew we could see some actual TV sets there. The girls were impressed right away. We were all impressed when we figured out they weren't currently filming and we could explore everything up close and personal. Like climbing on the gym steps and working out with the show equipment for example.

We hiked up a small mountain trail while there (the very spot where Gina had her Valentine's picnic on last week's episode!!) and got some gorgeous views of the Ranch and the surrounding mountains.

Taylor fell down. Being the good mom that I am I commemorated it with a photo.

Then Austyn got jealous that I didn't take a picture of her so she pretended to fall down.

Back at the bottom of the trail we stopped for one last photo op, pose dreamed up solely by the girls.

We decided to make one last ditch attempt at celeb spotting by going to Thousand Oaks and looking for Britney Spears new mansion. But again, a gate.

This time however, there was no place to turn around so they had to open the gate to let us pull in and turn around. Success?
